[Abstract/Description of Report]
Oil consumption during 2005 is estimated to be in the region of 83.2 m barrels per day (b/d) representing a growth of 1.3% y/y while supply is estimated to be 84.3m b/d growing 1.6% y/y. Gas consumption has been estimated to have grown by 2.8% y/y to 2,765 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2005 with supply being 2,755 bcm growing 2.4% y/y. Key growth drivers related to the industry are GDP growth, growth in consumption in the emerging markets, international trade and weather conditions. Application of technology has become paramount in search of new reserves and for increasing productivity from mature reserves. Technology is contributing immensely in all the segments of the oil and gas industry. World oil demand is forecast to grow by 1.9% to average 84.8m b/d for 2006 and 86.75m b/d for 2007 with emerging countries like China and India driving the incremental demand.
The Global Oil and Gas Industry Insight -2006 provides an in depth coverage of the industry as a whole. The report covers the macro issues and gives a broad overview of the industry from the global perspective.
